It's Been A While

It's been a long time since I've made an entry here! All is well on my end...I started week 5 of the BFL challenge today. So far so good with that! And I will be doing a 5k with my job on Oct 11th. I hope everyone is doing and I look forward to catching up with everyone! Have a wonderful and productive day!

It's Been a While!

It's been a while since I made an entry and since I've actually hit the pavement. I went out to the track and walk/jog from 6 p.m. until 7:45 p.m. I know my body is going to hate me tomorrow but I had to start some where! No more excuses...I've got to get back on track with my training. I feel a sense of accomplishment today! Happy Running Everyone!

It's Been A While!

Wow...how time flys...it's been a while since I've posted. Right after my first race I end up with the flu and my migraines came back with a vengance! I have not ran in a while...I have been walking during lunch. :) That has to count for something!

It's time to get back on the grind and set new goals. My goal is to hit the track at Churchland tomorrow. NO EXCUSES!

Making Great Strides In the Right Direction!

I end up going out on the track and running about 1.5 miles while I waited for my daughter to finish basketball practice last night. I did not do any formal exercise today...I just took the stairs instead of the elevator and parked further away from the office. So far so good with my eating...I've decided to only weigh myself once a week so that I don't become a slave to the scale. I think Friday will be my day to weigh in day. This will let me see my accomplishment over the week and kind of keep me on track over the weekend. So far my eating has been good over the last few days...I'm really thinking about what I put in mouth.

HAPPY MONDAY EVERYONE!

I've been up since 3 a.m. I don't know why I'm so restless tonight....anyway I decided to get onthe scale and I'm so disappointed in what it displayed. It's time for me to step my game up and get these 10lbs off. I know I have been very relaxed with eating carbs lately so that will come to a halt today. I will walk for 30 minutes during lunch and try and go for a run tonight. I will also increase my water in take. And I will cut out my snacks.

Not the BestQ

I've been under the weather and have not had a chance to trainf. I did speed walk for 30 minutes during lunch on yesterday. It's raining like cats and dogs here in VA today...hopefully, I will be able to go running this evening.

Let's Do This

The weather here in Va is still cold but I did manage to go for a 20 minute run after work. Overall I think I did well. I will map out the distance in the car tomorrow...I can not find my pedometer. Hopefully, I will be able to go out again tomorrow. I'm scheduled to run my first 5k on Feb 2nd. I know that I'm not ready but I'm going to go out and do as much as I can. I will cross the finish line! My eating was okay today...I back to lowering my carbs...I really want and need to drop a few pounds. I know that it will happen once I get consistent with my training. I can't wait until the weather breaks.

NOT A GOOD WEEK!

I've had the worst week as it relates to exercise. I have been putting in 10 and 12 hours days and by the time I get home I'm so tired. And when I get up in the morning I had no energy. I have been on point with my eating so that's one positive. I really need to get on the ball because I have that 5k in a little over two weeks. I know that I will be able to run the entire thing...but I will do as much as I can...my main goal is crossing the finish line. Well, I'm tired so I need to hit the sack. I'm sure next week will be much better.

HAPPY MONDAY!

Today, I began Week 2 - Day 1 of Body For Life. I had a great lower body work out this morning and I went for a 1 mile run at the Track. I wanted to do more but when I got to the track it was almost dark and I did not feel safe being out there alone. I will shoot for more tomorrow. My eating was okay today...however, I can and need to make big improvements with my water. This really seems to be my downfall at the time. I wish push for more tomorrow.

I just came back from the the track. And I'm feeling great! The weather is kind of cold but I pushed myself to go out and run any. I'm proud of myself. I'm still new at this running thing and I working on increasing my distance and time. I'm happy to report that I ran 1 mile straight in 12 minutes. I also ran/walk for an additional 2 miles. I think I'm making strides in the right direction. I managed workout out everyday this week and I will be start Week 2 of Body For Life on Monday.

Feeling Good

I have to be in the office early this morning but I was not going to leave without getting my workout on. It's going to be a long day and I know I would not be able to do it this evening.

Today is Day 2 of Body For Life for me...I just completed 20 minutes on the Cardio Glider. What a great workout! I'm feeling so good. I thought I would be sore after my run on yesterday but I fine.

I registered last night for a 5k on February 2, 2008.

It's A Great Morning

I just completed a great upper body work out. I decided that I will follow the Body for Life Training schedule for now. It gives me both the cardio and weight training work out that my body needs. I managed to get in 16.9 ounces of water already this mornig. This is good for me because I sometimes struggle in this area.

Day 1
Upper Body Training - Chest/Shoulders/Triceps/Back/Biceps

Update: The weather is so nice here today. I'm going to go out for a run. I will attempt to run 20 minutes. Wish me luck! I'm sure my body is going to love me for the double dose of exercise today.

I went to the track at Churchland High and I end up run/walking for about an hour. I ran the majority off the time. I'm very proud of myself...

Times Fly By

I will not be doing any formal exercise today...I'm going to spend some time doing a little house cleaning so I will burn a few calories. After that I'm going to relax until it's time for me to take my son back to college. I dread that 2 hour drive there and back but I got to do what I got to do.

I'm still on track with my eating and drinking so I'm excited about that. I was not going to get on the scale until Monday but I sneaked a peek on Saturday night and I'm down 5 pounds. :)

Here is my planned menu for today

Breakfast
Chili

Lunch
Chili
Sugar Free Red Bull

Dinner
Snow Crab Legs
Steamed Shrimp

Wate goal: 64 ounces

HAPPY SATURDAY!

I completed 20 minutes on the elliptical. I was sweating up a storm...seems like more then normal but for this I'm grateful. :)

I'm still doing well with my eating. The last few days have been great! I just finished making a big pot of chili so this will be my food of choice for today.

No big plans for today...just lots of lounging...those are the best days!

TGIF

This was a holiday week but it seem like it would never end!

I had a great upper body workout this morning. Boy, do I love to feel the burn!

I successfully completed two of liquids and feeling very light on my feet. I will weigh myself on Monday. I will begin to incorporate light proteins today (eggs, cheeses, fish). However, I'm feeling great and it's cold here in VA; so I might continue with soups.

Have a great weekend!

Tweaking My Plan

It's 32 degrees here in VA. My dog Mase and I got up at 5 a.m. and hit the pavement by 5:15 a.m. with the best of intentions. We ran/walk for about 15 minutes and just could not take the weather so we came back home. He went and got back in his bed but I, on the other hand, went and got on the elliptical for 15 minutes. So over all I had a great workout.

While on the elliptical, I thinking too myself, it's only going to get colder because we are smack dab in the middle of winter and how will I train for my first 5k. I get a great workout from the elliptical but I know it's not the same as a treadmill. I will try and get out there and hit the pavement when the weather permits but for now...I'm going to have to basically rely on the elliptical. I welcome any suggestions or advice from anyone who has dealt with a similar problem.

I have also decided that I will start walking again during lunch but I will not be able to run as I don't want to be sweaty and I don't have enough to go home and shower and get back to work. This walk will be a little breather through out the day to clear my mind. :)

Stats

Elliptical - 1.0

Food Plan

I will be doing all liquids and cream soups. I will do this for 2 days and then start back with my protein and good carbs. I've got to get that Carb Monster under control and this is the best way for me to do it.

Planning Makes All The Difference

The reason most of us don't succeed with our New Year's resolution is because it's often times an emotional statement we blurt out with no real plan. This is our year people! We are going to do it right in 2008, and we are going to start by creating an organized checklist/plan of attack on how to get it done.

The Plan

1. Depending on your fitness level the first thing you're going to do is get the green light from your doc to say it's OK for you to get going.

2. Map out where your starting point is: current weight, exercise schedule, foods you are eating, and even some basic measurements of your body. It's always great to see where you begin, and it will help you appreciate progress even more.

3. Make a nutritional plan. Sounds crazy, but I want you to map out your meals for the week. Hey, I love spontaneity, but not in our food life. Do not reach for food based on how you are "feeling." No emotional eating; just eat what's on your plan. This will help you stay on top of food, and allow food to control you or sabotage your goals.

4. Create an exercise agenda. It's not going to work to just want to eat better and exercise more. You have to be specific and define what that really means in your life.
You should have your food journal, which keeps track of the food you eat from day to day, andincludes your original food calendar. This way you can see how close you are to hitting your mark and note which kinds of situations throw you off (i.e. stress, poor planning, etc). Not to mention you will start to see which foods are your Achilles heal and which ones you reach for most often in the heat of the moment. Becoming aware is often times half the battle.
You should create a workout journal. Include your cardio, strength, and even stretching schedules. This should include how many days a week, for how long, and at what intensity you are going to work out. Write it all down.

5. Create a great support system. Figure out who is going to be a part of helping you reach your goals, and who may need to be kept at bay. Even notice if you have certain friends that only want to go out and eat certain kinds of food that may just pull you back into your ways of old. Try to avoid predictable circumstances that will create temptation.6. Make time for some positive reading. I know it may sound corny, but create some time every week to read inspiring, educational, and motivational material. Spending a small percentage of your week reading materials that are supportive will help reinforce your morale and give a boost to your spirit.

This is it! You can do this, but make a solid plan and be kind to yourself. If you have an off day or week, just get back to your plan. That's one of the best things about making a plan on paper -- you can turn it over to the schedule, and follow what it says instead of your feelings at the moment.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy New Year! I look forward to "08" with great excitment. I'm happy about my efforts that I'm putting forth in regards to running and I'm excited about working and growing my travel business. If you are in need of travel please check out my online travel site at www.royaltyworldtravel.biz and www.royaltyworldtravel.info

I've basically spent today relaxing and lounging around the house. I go back to work tomorrow after being off almost two -weeks. I'm so not looking forward to it! However, I'm blessed that I have gainful employment. There are so many that are unemployed.

I may do a little weight training this evening if I can break away from the t.v. they have a Monk Marathon on the USA cable channel. I just love watching Monk and Law and Order!

My eating has been okay...I seem to be a little dehydrated so I've been drinking alot of Gatorade today...I just love the Gatorade A.M. Tropical-Mango flavor.

I wish and everyone a wonderful and productive year!
